Focusing For Landscape Photography

In this tutorial Thomas Heaton describes the 5 approaches he takes to focussing:

Focus to Infinity - foucussing on the furthest distant object in the frame.

Focus on subject - where there is a dominant or clear subject in the image.

Focus stacking - where there is interesting details in the image all the way from front to back.

Focus to infinity where the subject is constantly changeing and you cannot readily focus stack (say a scene with incoming waves).

Foucus between one third and one half way into the frame - where there is no obvious sujcect in the frame.
